Heart of Darkness was founded in 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City by John Pemberton alongside co-founders Andrew Stephens and Thu Nguyễn, taking its name — and much of its visual identity — from Joseph Conrad's novella of the same name. The brewery operates a production facility in the VSIP Bình Dương Industrial Park, alongside taprooms in Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.
Since launching, Heart of Darkness has built a wide and frequently rotating range of craft styles, from IPAs and lagers to stouts, distributed across Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States and New Zealand. It's one of the better-known names to emerge from Vietnam's craft beer scene, both at home and across the region.
